Add definition while still looking like yourself.

Hyaluronic acid fillers may provide temporary support or volume. For lips, respecting anatomy, proportion and movement comes first.

An informed decision
starts here.

Hyaluronic acid is a material found naturally in several body tissues. As an injectable gel, it can create a temporary filling or supporting effect. Behavior depends on the formulation, anatomical plane, treatment area and amount used, so a product suited to one indication is not necessarily appropriate for another.

For lips, we assess proportion, symmetry, support, mobility, apparent hydration and the relationship with the rest of the face. A prudent plan may prioritize definition or asymmetry before volume and can be divided into stages when that offers a more predictable approach.

This page provides guidance but does not diagnose or replace a consultation. The final recommendation depends on a professional assessment.

What we can assess

Clear goals.
A proportionate plan.

Each goal is reviewed separately to avoid unnecessary treatment and organize options with realistic expectations.

01

Proportionate lips

Define contour, support or volume according to individual anatomy without imposing the same shape on everyone.

02

Facial support

Determine whether the concern involves the lips, chin, cheeks or another area and avoid unnecessary compensation.

03

Staged treatment

Favor measured changes and follow-up before adding product when proportion or response remains uncertain.

Clinical assessment

Before recommending,
we need to ask.

A responsible consultation does not begin with a procedure. It begins by identifying needs, medical history, limitations and alternatives.

Talk with our team
  1. 01

Anatomy, symmetry, tissue quality, movement and facial proportions.

  2. 02

Previous fillers, known or unknown product, nodules, inflammation or permanent procedures.

  3. 03

Allergies, bleeding disorders, medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding and relevant medical conditions.

  4. 04

Infections, active lesions, recent cold sores and upcoming or recent dental procedures.

From your first visit
to follow-up.

01

Define the goal

We clarify whether you want apparent hydration, definition, symmetry, support or volume—and what you do not want changed.

02

Choose the product

Indication, area, gel properties, lot number and expiration date are documented before treatment.

03

Treat with restraint

Technique and amount are adjusted to the anatomical plane and agreed objective.

04

Follow up

We review swelling, symmetry and outcome, as well as any warning signs requiring attention.

Before deciding

Who may be
a candidate?

Candidacy is not determined by a photograph or a trend. These are general guidelines and must always be confirmed during a consultation.

It may be useful to consider if…
  • Adults seeking a temporary and proportionate change.
  • People with specific goals compatible with their anatomy.
  • Patients who accept temporary swelling and bruising as possibilities.
  • Those able to attend follow-up and recognize symptoms that require early care.
It is better to postpone or ask first if…
  • Infection, an active cold sore, wounds or inflammation in the area.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding without a specific indication and assessment.
  • Unknown previous product, nodules or complications that should be studied before adding material.
  • Expectations of an extreme, permanent or anatomically unsafe change.

Safety and expectations

A filler is an injectable medical device.

An outpatient procedure still carries risk. Vascular anatomy, product selection and the ability to recognize complications are essential.

01

Swelling, pain, tenderness, bruising, asymmetry, nodules or infection may occur.

02

Accidental injection into a blood vessel is uncommon but may cause necrosis, visual impairment, blindness or a serious neurologic event.

03

The FDA has not authorized needle-free devices for injecting hyaluronic acid and warns against their use.

04

Patients should know the product name, manufacturer, lot number, expiration date, indication and complication-response plan.

Information before
your consultation.

01Can I choose an exact amount before an assessment?

Amount should not be decided from a photograph or trend alone. It is proposed after reviewing anatomy, product, goals and previous treatments.

02How long does swelling last?

Initial swelling is common and varies by person and area. The team should explain expected recovery, aftercare and symptoms that should not wait.

03Is the result permanent?

Most absorbable fillers have a temporary effect. Duration depends on material, area, technique and individual response.

04Which symptoms need immediate attention?

Severe or increasing pain, very pale or unusually colored skin, visual changes or neurologic symptoms require urgent communication and assessment.
